MORRIS ‘MOTORS PROFITS LONDON, May 2. Atoms Motors, 192(1, Ltd., discloses a profit of £925,741, but no dividend is declared on ordinary shares. A sum of £150,859 is written off preliminary expenses, and £375,000 is placed to reserve, leaving £30,838 .to be carried forward. The directors are of opinion that the change of model has been justified by sales in 1927, which were a record.
A pronounced scarcity of maize exists and it may be taken for granted that, when consignments from the coast are realising 7s fid on the wharf in wholesale lines there cannot be very much left there, for this price would attract any large lots still held. A good demand continues, in spite of the high price, Ss Gs ex store, and Java maize is offering at Is less, tQ arrive in about 10 days.—Auckland Herald.
