DARING ESCAPE
PRISONERS JUMP FROM TRAIN (Per Press Association.; TK, KM"!!, this day. Two prisoners, brothers named Windsor, uho bad been sentenced yesterday at Palmersfon North to live years' gaol for burglary, made an escape, from the train a.s it was passing Te Kuiti at 2.b0 o'clock this morning. The two men were handcuffed together. As the train was pulling out of the station the men got. permission from a warder to go to the lavatory. Tho warder followed, but tho door was slammed in Ids fate, and the men rushed through the other compartment, and jumped off the train at King street crossing. Word was sent back from Otorohanga, and a thorough search was made, but with no result until B'o'clock .this morning when the escapees were located in tho bathroom of ;i private hotel at Otorohanga and taken in charge by Constable Pry without, resistance. It appeared that one man got clear of the handcuffs, but the other had his up his sleeve. They stole a motor car and drove to Otorohanga. 12 miles away. The men will be taken on to their destination, Mount Eilen, to-day.
