The diphtheria epidemic at Tauranga is not abating. Arrangements are nearing completion for the inoculation of schoolchildren after the present holidays. A brilliant meteor lit up the whole sky about 7.30 o’clock one evening lastweek at Rotorua. The track of the meteor was written across the sky in a bright, sinuous track, which was clearly visible for a period of five minutes. Spectators who witnessed the phenomenon state, that it was awe inspiring. and Maoris who are strong on portents, predict at least an earthquake as the aftermath of the celestial visitant.
