TllT* assistance of Canterbury members of Parliament in obtaining recognition ■«p£the New* - Zealand Amateur Bpxjng Association was sought by a deputation from the association which waited on members of Parliament this morning. Mr. W. G. A tack said there was an Act of Parliament in existence controlling boxing. Under that Act the Minister of Internal Affairs had power to grant recognition of the organisations controlling boxing in New Zealand. What was wanted w'as to remove amateur boxing sport from professional control. In Australia the amateurs were uludef separate control, but in New Zealand a professional body controlled the amateurs as well. 1

The, meeting agreed not to take any concerted action until they had had an opportunity of hearing the other side of the question.
