PRACTICALLY KILLED.

FAMILY ENDOWMENT BILL (Received March 23, 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 23. The Family Endowment Bill was read a second time in the Legislative Council, but during the committee stage Mr. Ashton moved an amohdr.cnt which would have the effect of excluding most of the workers, who are above the basic wage. This amendment was carried by 29 votes to 24.

Mr. Willis announced that he did not intend to proceed with the measure, as the amendment practically killed the Bill. The absence of many Labor members from the sitting provoked bitter comment by their colleagues.
