Tt is stated that West Coast local bodies have been sounded as to the possibility of their absorbing any of the unemployed from the East Coast. It is also stated that, while it would be an excellent step to open up tracks in <-ome of the West Coast backblocks, giving access to settlors, it is doubtful if thrf class of men seokinrj work in tho larger centres would be suited for such work.
