CRICKET ON THE COAST

A match was played at Waipiro Bay during the week-end between Mata team and the Waipiro Bay team. As the match was for the Ben Taylor Shield much interest was taken in the result. Mata compiled 73 runs in their first innings. Waipiro's innings resulted in 96 runs, to which Mata replied with 115. Requiring 93 to win, Waipiro failed to rise to the occasion and their total was only 85, thus being beaten by eight runs. Scores. MATA.—First Innings. G.
