(Special to the Herald.) WAIROA, this day. The tote has handled £SOO and was only £1 down after the fourth race. Maiden Handicap Scurry.—l Tan (McTavish)T, 3 Singer Boy 2,2 Night Gambler 3. Tan got away well and though headed by King's Dream came again at the bend to win a hard finish by three-quarters of a length from Singer Boy, with Night Gambler half a length back. King's Dream finished fourth. Time, 1.3.
Telephone Handicap.—Tino Maunga 1, Night Song 2. Night Song led in the early stages, but was passed by Gold Streak and Tino Maunga. Gold' Streak \ed to the straight, but could net hold the pace against the others. Tino Maunga wrested the lead a few strides from the post, beating Night Song by half a length. llerekapua was fourth.
