CATALINA MARATHON
MR. COATES PRAISES WINNER (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received January lfy'3 p.m.) OTTAWA, Jan. 17. Henry O'Byrne, of Toronto, who paid all the expenses of: Young when training on the Pacific coast preparatory to the Catalina marathon, will receive ]o,ooodols, of the prize-money. Mr. J. G. Conies, commenting on Young's performance, said: "Wo too arc very proud to know Young belongs to the Empire. We have boy and girl swimmers in New Zealand, hut none so great as your champion. I hope this boy receives all the fitting complimentary rewards and benefits he deserves.
