FUNK HOLE'' EXPERIMENTS

"Funk holes" for the civilian population during air raids are at present engaging the attention of the War Office, which is secretly ear-marking a numbed of underground cellars, tunnels and tubes for the purpose of ascertaining what cover would be available in case of emergency.
Yesterday, armed with books and papers to-pass the time, selected Guardsmen, who first, had to undergo a. rigorous medical examination, spent several hours in an underground chamber adjoining the General Post Office tube. Scientists closely watched their behavior and directed the supply of fresh air through a shaft, as Die soldiers showed signs of willing in the stuffy atmosphere.
