PEACE SHIELD TOURNEY ELIMINATION ROUNDS The annual tournament for the Peace Shield was commenced on Saturday under the auspices of the Gisborne Bowling Centre. Both the Kahutia and Gisborne green were in use. and many fine games were witnessed by the large assembly of bowling enthusiasts. In opening the tournament, Mr. A. W. Home, president of the centre, gave a warm welcome at the Gisborne green to the visitors, and especially to those from Wairoa, Tolaga and Te'Karaka. He expressed the hope that they would have enjoyable games, and conveyed to all bowlers the New Year greetings of the Gisborne centre. The vice-president, Mr. 1). G, Robertson, extended similarly warm greetings and wishes to those assembled on the Kahutia green. Three rounds were played in each section of the tournament and this completed half the elimination rounds. Three more were played to-day, and the section winners will'meet at a date to be announced later. The results of Saturday's games were : KAHUTIA GREEN. SECTION A.—First round: Gibbs 18 beat Atkinson 17, Wootton 25 beat Murray 12, Harris 19 beat Wilkinson 10, Seymour 22 beat Robertson 8, Crawford 19' beat Sinclair 18. Second round.—Robertson 28 beat Wootton 11, Wilkinson 27 beat Gibbs 12, Atkinson 27 beat Sinclair 12,> Harris 21 beat Murray 19,' Seymour 21 beat Crawford 15. Third round.--Seymour 17 beat Wilkinson 16, Harris 18 beat Atkinson 15, Robertson 18 beat Gibbs 12, Wootton 20 beat Sinclair 10, Murray 23 beat Crawford 18. GISBORNE GREEN.
