; NGATAPA MEET

QPEMNS DAY AT PARK TKXUMPH OF ORDER i The Ngatato Sports .Club has been eoiflplimeiited on ■other ecensions on the excellent organisation achieved in connection frith Its annual meetings, and the 'public felt entitled to expect the gala meeting opened on Saturday reaching a particularly high standard in this respect. Nor was it disappointed, for a programme of 35 items ■;wap run off without a hitch, and the quality of the was highly satisfactory. The club officials accepted an unusually heavy burden in attempting to. conduct a meeting the attractions of r/Jtich included athletic and equestrian' competitions, and numerous special ,r ßtunts" arranged" to catch the in."teleeStOf the public; the preparatory wofk involved must have been immense, fpr it included the construction of ai sprint track of 105yds, run niug through both the lawn and birdcage, and projecting beyond the latter into the addling paddock, and other Stalls without number. That they »u«eepsfully fulfilled their duties snd, finalised the day's programme well up to time reflected great credit upon the individual members of the <iub and the many experienced offi"cials whose assistance was rendered readily. :' Especially to the organiser, Mr. W. Jcnaseii, and the secretary, Mr. "W. Picken, was credit due for the tinooth manner in which every detail of the preparations worked.

Many fine performances were mad*? in these (.vents by the other placed '«(% but in the cycling division it was plain that Povertv Rav had no riders to compart' with 'Henderson and Mackie. the Chmtchurr;h pair, who rode over the ,-fields in splendid style. In the handicap'events, both professional and amateur, the "finishes trereelose and showed evideuces of close s'tudy of form by ths luindicappers, Messrs C. L. Davy and A. 0. Swan.
