DANCE HALL DAMAGED

CARRIED AWAY BY FLOOD During the height of the storm ou Sunday evening the dance hall of Ferndale. about/ four miles from Henderson, was lifted by "a rush of flood waters and carried bodily away for n distance of about 50ft. . There were several people in the building at the time and they had a most unenviable experience. About midnight the hall and the attached living v quarters were struck - by the flood waters and after being moved' about 50ft. were deposited in a position at right angles to the former position. A chimney built of concrete blocks fell when the building was torn away. It is estimated the flood was 4ft. deep and when the water rose oyer the floor of the building the occupants endeavored to escape, but found the doors had jammed and they were compelled to spend the rest, of the night in the. partially-wrecked structure. This was, perhaps, fortunate, as the rush of waters iir the darkness outside was so great that it would have been almost impossible for the occupants to have reached higher ground. The only lamp in the building fell and was broken and the occupants were compelled to-wait in complete darkness for the morning.
