OLYMPIC GAMES
COUNCIL PROPOSED FOR N.Z. (For Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Olympic. Games Association last rife hi certain rules, chief ot which provides for an advisory council, representing nil sports bodies. The proposals were explained by Mr. Heenan, who said the Advisory Council would consist of members of the Olympic Council and not more than 15 persons elected at the annual meeting of the association, three persons appointed by the president, and not more than 10 by the Advisory Council itself. The functions of the body would be to* advise the association and generally take such action as was thought fit.. Further, its aim was to mako the Olympic Association generally representative and a common meetingground of all amateur sports bodies. Meetings of this body, particularly in Olympic years, would, especially in view of the type of man they would secure, help very largely to get the response from the public necessary if New Zealand was to be adequately represented at future Olympic Games. If the Advisory Council could be got going in time, it would .greatly help preparing for the Los Angeles games in 1932, when tlie games would be nearer New Zealand than probably in a lifetime. Any suggested alterations to the rules are to !>_-. ir the hands of the secretary bel'or.' January 15.
