A Hamilton motorist who recently made the trip from Hamilton to Taaipo in .'>} hours reports that the road is now in lir,«t-elass condition. The stretch between Lichfield and Atiamnri has been metalled, and from there to Taupo the road is being widened and reformed. A proposal to hold a swimming gala on January 8 has been considered by the Haufonoa. Library and Sports Club. Tokomuru Bay, and permission to conduct the gala is being sought from the New Zealand Amateur Swimming' Association. ' A special invitation is being extended to all Gisborne swimmers to compete, and as all ihe event* are under amateur rules, it is .contemplated that a number of Gisborne competitors will take part. Reynolds' special Christmas .sale lias opened and is attracting considerable attention. Many beautiful chinaware novelties and useful presents are being ottered at greatly reduced prices. The high-class of Reynolds' stocks is well known to Gisborne, and what should bo an added inducement to patronise this shop is the fact that stocks are guaranteed to be entirely of British manufacture.
