(Herald Correspondent). Miss A. E. J. Spencer, daughter of the late Dr. (Spencer, and formerly principal of the Napier Girls' High School, accompanied by Miss Large, of Napier, who have been touring the Wniroa district, left yesterday for their homes. Mrs. 13. Marbrook, of Lahore street, and her little daughter, left on Sunday for Napier, on route to Nelson, where Mrs. Marbrook's parents reside. At the quarterly meeting of the Fire Board motions in connection with the Board's loan were passed and inspection reports noted. Saturday and Sunday afternoons were particularly cold, especially oa Sunday after the passing of a heavy thunderstorm, but yesterday was sum-mer-like. In continuation of the Hopper Shield competition, two matches were played on Saturday, City v. Tapuae, on 'tho new sports ground, and Frasertown v. P.W.D. at Frasertown. Tapuae in the first innings scored (id (H. Hutchinson 21). City put tip 00 runs (Hislop 1(f). Tho match will be continued next Saturday. Frasertown, playing against I'.W.D., scored 80 runs in tho first innings (N. Phillips 21). F.W.D. made 50 runs in the first innings (Vallanco, not out, 19), but collapsed on the second knock, scoringonly .10, of which Vallanco made four. Frasertown won by an innings and 21 runs. Thompson was deadly .with tho ball. The following matches were played on tho Wairoa bowling green on 'Saturday in continuation of the contest, for tho Hunter-Browm Shield: Kendrew, Loekhart, Redmond and Taylor (26) beat Craig, Patterson, Brown and Harris (18). Trios: Stairmand, Ranum and Fletcher (29) beat Stanton, Noble, and Macdonald (11); Wade, Rutherford and Wilson (IS) heat Osier, Prebblc and C. Wade (12).
