"Exiled. anti-Fascist agents and provokcateurs have caused most objectional incidents," said Signor Mussolini, in the Ministerial Council, denouncing the disturbances following the mosl recent attempt lit assassination. "Many episodes have been exaggerated." he/ added. "Harmless fireworks became bombs and high explosives. Demonstrations against foreign consulates are" bad customs belonging to the old regime, and will be put down by every means iu my power. Equally deplorable are attacks on Catholic Churches and priests, for whom Fascism should have the greatest respect." Referring to the laws for the defence of the state, Signor Mussolini said they were only directed against a few hundred of their irreconcilable enemies and criminals, flood citizens, even nonFascists, need have no fear.
