PETTIES’ LTD. ENTERPRISE. Mannequin displays have taken a. permanent niche in the world of-fashion abroad, and, latterly the bigger cities of New Zealand have, taken up.the attractive means of showing frills and furbelows for the delectation of tho ladies. The latest enterprise of the kind is now being conducted by Petties’ Ltd., in the handsome showrooms in their Gladstone road premises, and the attendances have fully justified the step. The display is to feature the McCall patterns, which are rapidly gaining a large circulation throughout the* world. The parade is conducted under the supervision of Miss Betty McCall, the direct representative of the manufacturers of McCalls’ patterns. In concise manner, Miss McCall indicates to her audience the pleasing lines of the various models shown by the mannequins, and discusses the suitability of each for particular functions. The display includes a remarkable number of robes) frocks, costumes a/nd negligees, a striking design which attracted much attention being tho pyjama, wrap, calculated to please the lady traveller. Miss McCall has travelled in many parts of the world, and draws upon her experience for many humorous anecdotes, with which she intersperses her more serious suggestions on the subject of feminine apparel. Particularly interesting is her story of how the master designs for the patterns are made by the' famous costumiers of Paris and London, includ.iiw Martial et Armand, Patou, Le'ong, Jonnv, Miler Soeurs, Lnneif, Berthe, and Redfeni : and of their transmission throughout the world through the McCall agencies, among which is numbered Potties’ Ltd. The display will be repeated to-night, for the benefit of country patrons and others who have been unable to avail thetnselvos of Miss McCall’s suggestions and advice on* the absorbing topic.
