AGAINST WATERSIDERS DEFIANCE OF COURT (Received December 4, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 4. Although the watersiders defied tho Arbitration Court, refusing to call the “no overtime” strike elf, so far Judge Beeby lias taken no action. DIRECT NEGOTIATIONS STRIKERS’ LATEST DECISION {Received December 4, 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. .4., Having disregarded Judge Beeby s offer, the Watersiders’ Federation is now making efforts to effect agreements with the different shipping companies by direct- negotiation. Already agreements have been reached with two smaller companies. •- The shipowners claim that on the terms heavy losses are being sustained by both tlie shipowners and shippers. OwiiiiT to the strike delays in the sailings of steamers from various Australian ports are frequent, some being four days behind schedule. Several coastal vessels are laid up, and the crews paid off.
