YOUNG GIRL MURDERED 3Y REPULSED LOVER lElec. Teh Copyright— United Frees Aeau MELBOURNE, Dee. 3. The mutilated body of Emma Hill, 17, was found by the police on the bank of tho Yarra river. The discovery* was made as a result of 'statements of George Devitt, 27, who, in the early hours of tho morning, hailed a taxicab and told the driver he wanted to be driven to the police station. Devitt’s throat ,wtfs cut, and he was covered in blood when he arrived at the station. He told the he had left the girl dead near the, river after cutting her throat, and then cutting his own. After several hours’ search the police found the girl’s body. There were evidences of a desperate struggle, aijd examination revealed that even after the girl’s throat had been hacked, she had been subjected to outrageous treatment. Tho girl had been in the habit of going out with Devjtt, but had lately told him she did not want to go again with him. After this repulse Devitt (who is in hospital and guarded bv the police), became moody and wrote to the girl arranging a meeting last night. «na»»ii »>u ■ wammmmm
