The change-over from the method of pumping its water with a suction gas plant to an electrically-driven plant- has proved beneficial to the I/ower Hult Borough Council. The engineer reports that the cpst of the two systems was: Suction gas, lJpl per ICOO gallons: and electricity, ? ( d per ICOO gallons. During the last- fortnight 6,917,660 gallons wore pumped. The pumping of the sewage 1 V electricity has effected a saving of 700,000 gallons of water per week, previously used! hv the hydraulic pumps.
