Exports for the nine months ended September .'ill, .192(5, amounted to £37.-

340,920, and imports for the same period to £37,404,308, leaving a small execs* of imports of £57,448. Figures ].,r the corresponding period last year were: Exports, £14,191,254; imports, £35,234,507; balance in favor of exports, £5,956,447. Exports for the lirst nine months of the present year, therefore, are down by £0.844,334, as compared with the total for the corresponding: period in 102". however, show a diminution of but £830,439.

The shrinkage in exports is due to lower prices, especially in the wool trade. For the nine months uiv>r review the return from wool exported was £10,544,711, as eon.pared with with £15.9.12,721'- for the corresponding period ln»t year. and sacks, £441",573 (£327,490); flour, £290,781 (£92,489); lubricating oil,, £228,600 (£178,708). Motor-vehicles show a decline' in value from £3,049,087 to £2,792,778, although the nuni» ber increased from 16,154 to 17^375.
