PURDY BEATS JAMITO, (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, last night. Charlie Purely met Salvino Jamito at the Opera House this evening under a light-weight, over 1.1 rounds for a £l5O purse. An interesting match was .staged and Purdy won the first ten rounds, and then Jamito changed his tactics. The Filipino forced the fighting and won the last three rounds, but a knock-out only could have won the fight for him. Purdy secured a points' decision. The referee was Mr. Alan Maxwell, of Wellington.
