ATTACKS ON INDIANS
FATAL ASSAULTS BY WHITES
CALCUTTA, Oct. 29,
The European Association, representing the commercial community of the unofficial Europeans in India, has sent a strong protest to the Government' of India, against the; tendency of Europeans, for political reasons, to receive exceptionally lenient - treatment when charged with fatal assaults on Indians. The Government reply is that serious assaults receive careful examination. Cases of this kind have important'reactions on the relations of both the European and Indian communities, but the. Government had no other desire than that the examinations should be rigidly impartial. The Government says it eaii find no warrant tor the. allegations of the European Association. The reply is not likely to satisfy the Europeans.
