TELLER GETS PROBATION (Per Press Association.) W'.NROIN, this day. William Alfred Sandman, formerly a teller of the Bank of Australasia, ed wilh the I heft of £660, was admitted to probation fur three, years mi condition thai- he make restitution before the expiry of probation and that he lake out a prohibition order. Tho judge said it- had been the practice to refuse probation where an offender was in a. position of trust. Later, however, the practice was not followed invariably. In stating the case for accused', Mr, llanlon said that at C'hristehureh, through jllness in his family, Sandman got into debl. Then, just- before the exhibition opened, he was transferred to Dunedin, where he could only get expensive lodgings. The debt grew and accused took the bank money. ,
