There was again a large attendance of members and visitors on the above club's green on Saturday afternoon, when a' start was made with the (Saturday section of the Dan Barry Memorial Shield competition, whilst several ordinary and champion singles games were also played. Results are as follow?: — Dan Barry Fours: G. Downey, E. Robertson, Campbell, and Harkess (s) 15 defeated Ashworth, H. Smith, P. Smith and Sawyer (s) 13. As the scores indicate, this game was keenly contested. Solvander, Kay, "Vincent, B. Power is) 10 defeated H. Hogg, Hepburn, Town, Rotliwell (s) 11. Cowie, C. E. Robinson, Mason, .Tonkins (s) .1-1 defeated Shorter, Paine, R. Morse, and Flavell (s) 22, Ordinary games: Gilligah, Taylor, Nbwton (s) 15 defeated McLatehic, Raeburn, and Martin (s) PI. E. Hogg, Clarke, and Mcllroy (s) 14 v. Murphy, Spence, and Prince (s) IS. Championship Singles: Sawyer 19 defeated Rotliwell 17; Ashworth 21 defeated Town IS. The following is the draw for the second round of the Dan Barry Pours: Thursday—Cruickshank v. -Roderick; Atkinson v. Prince; Martin v. Gibbs; Dudfield, a bye. Saturday: Jenkins v. Rothwoll; Sawyer v. Power; Harkess v. Flavell. TOVERTV BAY CLUB. The McGibbon Shield Fours and Champion Singles competitions were commenced on Saturday on the Poverty Bay Club's greens, in nearly every game a close contest resulted.
