SHIP UNDAMAGED
FIRE ON THE RONA
OUTBREAK QUICKLY SUBDUED

The Sugar Co.'s Kona, on which a fire occurred on the voyage from Fiji, arrived here last night. The Bona left Suva at 3 p.m. on Thursday. At 8 p.m. next day the lire was discovered in the, fore 'tween deck. When the fore. hatch was lilted names and smoke could he seen on tlio port, side. Water was played orr the. fire and an hour before daybreak it, was under control. Members of the crew with smoke helmets then entered the hold with hoses and finally the fire was subdued.
' The outbreak occurred among a collection of cattle fittings and coal baskets. The origin is a mystery. Damage was done to a part of the. sugar cargo by water, but the extent will not be known until an examination has been made. The ship was not damaged.
