Mr Harold Hamilton, of the Dominion Museum staff, has been appointed prin cipal of the new school of native arts and crafts (established under the recent Act) at Botorua, Mr. Hamilton i.s a son of tlie late Mr A. Hamilton. Mr William A. Low, representative of Messrs J. C. Williamson, Ltd., is in Gisborne for the purpose of arranging for the appearance of ttie Murid Starr Dramatic Company for a six nights’ season, commencing on Wednesday of next week. Mr. G. It. McDonald, of the staff of the Waipukurau Post Office, is under ciders for transfer to Tokomaru Bay. Mr. McDonald has proved a more than usually courteous official at (the counter and his departure is regretted. Mr. F. B. Williams, of Tokon.'iru Bay, is to fill the vacancy at. Waipukurau. Mr. 0. If. Coop, of Gisborne, who is at* present an inmate of the Napier Hospital as the result of a fall while competing in the champion leaping match at the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. tSotfetv’s Spring Show last Thursday, is reported to lie in a satisfactory condition, but it will be some six weeks before lie will again be about.—Hawke’s Bay Herald. In the Magistrate’s Court this morning, before Mr. E. C. Levvoy, S.M., George Huberts Pevrenl, a farm hand, was non-suited when be claimed £3 8s from W. Clark, owner of Opua station. The plaintiff claimed be bad been cm rdoyed on the defendant’s station but liacl been dismissed without notice, and he cliiimpd for wages and expenses. From his evidence, however, he. admitted that he had the option of leaving at, once or staying on for a week. Costs, £2 Its, were allowed to the defendant-. Mr. A. Whitehead appeared for the plaintiff and! Mr. L. T. Burnerd for the defendant.
