ANNUAL SHOW

A. AND P. ASSOCIATION FORTY-SEVENTH GATHERING The forty-seventh annual gathering of the Poverty Bav Agricultural and Pastoral Association opened at the Park racecourse to-day in beautiful weather. The preparations for the annual fixture .have been in progress for some days, and the arrangements throughout appeared to be of the usual complete nature. The grounds were in excellent order, ami the general lay-out of the'arrangements was much on the lines of former years. The various officials worked hard for the success of the function.

There was a large and varied' collection of side shows within the enclosure, whilst numerous other stalls were scattered throughout the grounds. In the industrial field there was h good display of trade exhibits, in which the motoring fi\>ms predominated, showing the latest and most up-to-date models. Several of the mercantile firms were also represented. A new.exhibitor this year appeared for the first time, when the Poverty Bay Electric Power Board made their initial display, providing an electric cooking de. monst ration.

Judging was rather backward in commencing this morning, hut was pushed on with the usual vigor. Operations in the show rings and pens were confined mainly to horses, stud sheep, produce and fleeces, the main attraction being the* display of the various classes of horseflesh. Some of the classes were rather jjoorly represented, but good entries were received in others. The stud sheep were judged to-day, the entries in Lincolns being disappointing, and confined entirely to the one exhibitor. Romneys -and other classes made a better display and more in keeping with the importance of the industry, t attle will be judged to-morrow, together with dogs, poultry, pigs and the balance of the horses and competitions. The attendance this morning was rather small, but improved as the day advanced. People’s Dav will be observed to-morrow, and should attract a large attendance.
