ATTITUDE TO RUSSIA A “RED” DEFEAT NEGOTIATIONS WITH SOVIET (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received October 15. 2 p.m ) LONDON, October 14. The moderates were kept busy at the Margate Labor conference to-day in restraining the “Reds” from side-track-ing their motions demanding the cancellation of the Treaty of Versailles and the Dawes plan, and repudiating the Treaty of Locarno- ns aimed against Russia, and advocating a workers alliance with Russia. The “Reds” were Unvaried by file executive’s amendment, which was carried, urging the Ministry to re-open negotiations with Krassin with a view to restoring political and economic relations with the Soviet. Some excitement was caused by Mr. Bishop, a delegate • whose, credentials were cancelled because he was a, Communist-, demanding a hearing, amidst angry cries of “ Get out,” Suovc Him out,” and threats of personal violence. Finally Mr Bishop quitted the conference and joined the crowd of spectators in the gallery.
