At the Conference of Empire Parliamentary delegates, discussing Empire trade, Mr. Alexander, a British Labor member, snid that if the primary producer in the Dominions was to pain an increasing hold on the British market be must be organised to prepare and grade his product right to the stage when it reached the consumer in England. He was not sure that that bad as yet, been accomplished. There had been great development in co-operative organisation in NeW Zealand, and it was better than in other Dominions. In Australia it was progressing, and in Canada it had been started, but it needed further development. Until the producers of the Dominions really got a grip of that they would see the tragic things that happen owing to (he enormous spread of the price between the producer and consumer. There remained something for the Dominions to do in reducing thai spread of price. As to quality and grading, there was a need for strong discipline, either by the countries exporting, or by the producers themselves. The Dominions' standard ol product was improving every year.
