WIFE DESERTED HIM
FORCED TO BANKRUPTCY A meeting of the creditors of Edward Albert Morrow, jun., laborer, of Gisbornej was convened for this morning, but there were no creditors present. The Ueputy-Offieial Assignee, Mr. C. Blackburn, presided, and Mr. S. V. Beanfoy appeared on behalf of the bankrupt. To the Assignee, bankrupt, .said his wife left him twelve years ago and came back, when he returned from the war m 1919. She remained until August. 12, on the understanding that he was to give her all. his wages, ami, that she would pay all accounts, The accounts in ins statement were not old-standing as far as he knew. The Repatriation Department originally advanced him £7o, arm held security on his furniture, 'lhat debt should have been paid years ago, and he received a shocli when he discovered it was not. His wife sold the piano and sewing machine. S'lie tried to sell every stick that was in the house, hut she dare, not t ,ell the furniture. With £4 6s a week lie was paying 25s a week for rent, and if his wife had paid the accounts he could have "jogged on" quite easily. He was bachnig at present, and both hi* boy.s were at school. The Assignee said it looked to be a case oi being forced into bankruptcy. The meeting would he adjourned sine die.
