WAIROA FREEZING WORKS

RESULTS FOR THE YEAR MORE STOCK KILLED (Special to tho Herald.) WAIROA, this clay. The annual report, of the Wairoa Farmers' Meat Co., to be presented to the meeting on Friday next, shows that the works have had a. satisfactory season and that considerably more stock was dealt with than last year, despito the fact that there was a big decrease in the number of cattle killed. The report is as follows: '• Your directors have pleasure in submitting the twelfth annual report to the shareholders. The quantity of stock deal with for the year is as follows : _69,915 sheep, 48,985 lambs, total 118.900 sheep and lambs; 1654 cattle; 2714 calves, and 191 pigs. In comparison with the previous year the killing of sheep and lambs increased by 32 v r :67>; calves, increase 1542; cattle, decrease 2479. " During the. past season tho East Coast sufieredl from extreme drought conditions and the value of the works to the Wairoa district was very clearly demonstrated. There, is no question that the company has enormously assisted in the development of the district. Your directors would! therefore impress upon shareholders the necessity of insisting that all their fat stock. 1m: killed at their own w r orks. " As pointed) out in tho last annual report, an increase in tho number of fat stock can only be looked for by further development of the district. The results obtained 1 through fop-dressing of pastures have been very Ratifying, and it is to be hoped 1 that the area, dealt with will be considerably extended. Shipping arrangements through Waikokopu worked satisfactorily throughout tho year, the last of the meat from tho works being shipped out by the s.s. Norfolk on September 7. "The three directors retiring by rotalion were Messrs. G. 0. Ormond, A. Sinclair, and P. 11. 'Summe.rfield, who being eligible, offered themselves for reelection. There being no other nominations, the retiring directors were therefore duly elected.
