FATHER'S HEROISM
TWO CHILDREN RESCUED BUT LOSES OWN LIFE DRAMATIC FIRE INCIDENT (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Praa Assn.J (Sydney Sun Cables.) (Received October 4, noon) LONDON. October 3. An incident of heroic self-sacrifice occurred in connection with a fire at a basket works in Borough road, London. William Booke, whose family were trapped on the upper floor, after warning the other employees made his way upstairs through the flames and rescued two of his young children. Forbidding another employee to follow him, saying the fire was two fierce for anyone- else to face, lie again mounted the blazing staircase.
Firemen with their uniforms soaked, attempted to use tho lire escapes, but were driven pack badly . scorched. When the fire had burned out the body of Booke was found almost incinerated, while his wife and baby, both suffocated, were found together.
