DUNEDIN UNEMPLOYMENT (Per Press Association.) DI'Ml-DIN, this dAy. Local members of Parliament telegraphed the acting-Prime Minister: " Whilst appreciating your telegram that additional men will be employed on Portobello road, the position disclosed shows that the situation is acute, and likely to be accentuated owing to the City Council having discharged an additional .100' men. The council has expended ££o,ooo during the past six months, thereby giving employment, to over 300 men. The funds are now exhausted, and we urge the Government to rencFer further help in meeting the situation: The citizens have done their utmost to meet the conditions, but the funds 1 are now overdrawn by nearly £6000."
