exchequer returns IMPROVEMENT PREDICTED (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, October 1. The Exchequer returns for the six months show that the revenue was £322,266,000, and the expenditure £335,990,000. There is, however, the possibility that the deficit will he reduced materially before the end of the year as the last' quarter’s receipts displayed a remarkable recovery, being £671,000 above those for the corresponding quarter of 1925, compared with a decrease of £22,340,000 in the receipts for the first quarter this year. Tho income tax decreased £15,b00,0w. Three million fewer saving certificates were sold and nearly a million was repaid.
