IN LEAGUE OF NATIONS' WORK. SIR, JAMES ALLEN’S VIEWS. (Pei Press Association.) DUNEDIN, last night. Supporting the abolition of secret diplomacy, Sir James Allen told tile Rotary Club to-day that the League of Nations relied greatly on publicity. Ho said that the League was doing away with secret treaties, and lie affirmed that the more the nations got down to solid truth and frankness, more surely would international harmony bo brought a bout. “1 regret that the relationship between the Government and High Commissioner Has not been as close as it should have been,” said Sir James. “The Government has not realised how much a High Commissioner can do for it. After 1 was sent Home, I sent out for the enlightenment of Parliament and the people reports on the progress of the League of Nations. Those first reports were pigeon-holed and were not presented to Parliament, and it was only afterwards that they were made public.”
