PL'UNKET SOCIETY'S EFFORT. I BUILDING AT I’AHIATUA. (Per Press Association.) I’AHIATUA. ' last night. The official opening of the new Plmiket dental clinic, and ladies’ rest room, it fevro-concrete building in the main street, took place this afternoon under excellent weather conditions, arid in (lif. presence of a. large crowd of town end country residents. .Tins land and the building are paid for, and about £l5O is required to complete the payment for the furnishings. The.total cost of the scheme is about £2OOO. AH the money lias been raised locally. Disappointment' was .felt at the absence of the Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, owing to illness at Waipukurtiu, his place being taken by Dr. M. if. Watt. deputy-Dircctor-General of the Department, of Health. Dr. Wail dealt with Diet development of public health, also the humanitarian and democratic work of tlii' Plmiket Society, A gold key was handed to Dr. Watt- for presentation to Dm Minister. Various, other speakers touched on tlq> Plmiket Society’s activities. The Mayor, Mr. J. D. C. Crewe, presided. Addresses were also given by Mrs. Vv. D. Wilson, president of the Plmiket Society, and Messrs E. IE Ransom, M.P., J. E. Saunders (division of dental hygiene), Samuel Pollen (chairman of thw Puhiatua Gounty Council), G- Godfrey Taylor (chairman of Die I’aliiatua District High School committee); Dr. 11. Paterson, on behalf of Dio subscribers, also Mr. Watson, the architect. The building, v bich. is neatly designed and compact, with ex- ( client ’appointments, was wawnly pi uicd by officials and visitors. After the ceremony free afternoon tea was provided the public in Die Foresters’ Hall. in tile evening the grand Plmiket ball was held in the drill halt. ,
