AWAPUNI SCHOOL

GRANTED BY DEPARTMENT TENDERS TO BE CALLED (Special to the. Herald.) WELLINGTON, this da,v. Tho fact that the Department has authorised a new school for Gisborne, to be situated at Awapuni, was -mentioned at the Hawke’s Bay Education Board meeting yesterday. In a letter tho Department stated that tenders could be. called immediately for a th roe-roomed school.

It was pointed out that the new school was to have accommodation tor Lfiij children and it would have four teachers. It was, therefore,'considered advisable to have four rooms, even if these were slightly smaller than the ones proposed. With only three rooms and four teachers the work could not bo carried out efficiently. It was decided to refer the matter to (lie Department again and to suggest that four rooms should bo included iu the building.
