DAIRY FACTORIES
SALARIES OF MANAGERS. STATEMEXT CORRECTED. (Per Press Association.) HAWERA, last night. The Press Association message from Auckland re factory managers’ salaries requires to be corrected. It was stated that the New Zealand Factory Managers’ Association schedule of salaries was drawn up and approved at a meeting held at Palmerston North in 19zo between the National Dairy Association executive and a (committee of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association.
As the Taranaki employers had an organisation it negotiated with the factory employees including the managers and ducided at Palmerston North that the Taranaki factory directors should take no part in the proceedings, whirh led to the living of the schedule. The position is that the Taranaki employers have always been willing to meet the employers in discussions regarding wages and working conditions, and the men’s interests have never been ignored. On the contrary their, representations have always received due consideration. Tile ‘ precise attitude of the Taranaki Employers’ Association to factory managers’ salaries is tliat it is a question for settlement between the managers and the directors of the individual companies.
