The appointment of Miss Leila Bridgeman as the first national girls’ work secretary for New Zealand! proved welcome news to those interested' in organised girls’ work. Miss Bridgeman has been occupying the position of national girls’ work secretary for Australia and New Zealand' for ihe past two and a-hnlf years, but on the separation of tho V.W.C.A.’s of these two countries last December, Miss Bridgeman decided to come in a similar capacity to New Zealand. The girl citizen movement, which was inaugurated hv Miss Marjorie Black several years ago, and further improved by Miss Bridgeman, is the form of work which has been used fo” adolescent girls in the Y.W.C.A., and also by organised groups outside the V.W.0.A., and up to date has proved the most successful method of chili work for vounger girls. During the month gifts of flowers and books had; been received from the following: Mrs. Iferivel. Mrs. 0. Hutchinson, Witty, T. Adair, and Mr. Jonathan Hutchinson.
