Mrs. M. Hall and Masters F. and It. Hail lire passengers for Gisborno by the. lonic, due at Wellington from London next Monday. Mr. J. N. Robertson, of Westport, has been advised by cable that his son Johnny, who won the boys' cornet, solo competition at the Dunedin Exhibition and was runner-up in the championship, has just won the cornet solo in Melbourne, being five "points ahead of the, next competitor. Besides gaining a gold medal, lie was awarded a certificate of credit.
The death occurred at Wellington on Monday of Nancy Annette Fwen, the second' daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F Kvven, of Auckland. This sad occurrence is all the more to be deplored as Mr. and Mrs. Fwen are. at the present time, on a visit to Europe, and deceased was visiting her grandpa reals. Mr. and Mrs. Mcintosh, of Wellington. As far as can be ascertained the girl came into collision with n piece of furniture while playing, and received the injuries which resulted in her death.
