A very successful debate between members of the Patutnlii Debating Society and St. Andrew’s Debating Society, was held lasi evening, the Rev d. A.itkcn, M.A., presiding over an attendance of about thirty. The subject of the debate was: “Which is of greater educational value, travel or hooks?”

Fades, (hittrh and Clark. After hearing the various speeches, the judge, Mr. K. IT Pall congratulated the Pntutahi members on their performance, and awarded them (lie verdict liv a narrow margin.

He was unable to rise, and appeared to suffer temporary paralysis, which, however, passed off wit It treatment. The nature of Tasker’s ininjury is not known but it is not serious.
