The Tahiti left Wellington, August 17; Ranitonga, August 21 ; Papeete, August 25, and arrives at 'Frisco tomorrow. NEW UNION LINER The Wnipintn, a sleol screw cargo steamer, was launched on .Inly (1 by Messrs. Napier and Miller, LYtd., Old Kilpatrick, to the order of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd. She is building to Lloyds’ high est class and will carry d.w. of *I4OO tons, with gross tonnage about L’SOO. Length b.p., .'Moft; hreadtli moulded, 4ofl; depth, moulded, L'ofi -tin. The machinery is titled aft. She lias two decks, poop, bridge, and forecastle, three cargo holds, and two masts. After tlie launching, she was towed to Greenock, where triple-expansion engines will lie lilted hv Messrs. John G Kincaid and Co., Ltd.
