SCHOOL PASSES
ALLEGED IMPROPER ISSUE BOARDS HF.LD LIABLE (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. A communication from the Department Complaining that, notwithstanding repeated notices in the Education Gazette, and circulars sent to schools, it was found that the regulations regarding free school railway tickets were not being complied with, was received at a meeting of the Auckland Education Board.
The Department notified that if certificates for free tickets were issued by to pupils not entitled to them the Boards would be held responsible for payment for these tickets. Air. A. Burns mentioned that it was the teachers and not the boards that issued tickets.
Mr. T. L : , Wells: Yes, why do they blame it on to u,-.. We shall have to pass the matter on to Hie teachers. Objection to the Department’s action was raised by Air. H. «$. W. lying, who considered the Department should communicate with the teachers direct.
The secretary pointed out that this action laid been taken, but hqd had no results. Mr. Jr Patterson : I think the fault lies mainly with the secondary schools and colleges. It was decided to advise the teachers that in future they would be held responsible for the issue of railway passes..
