TROTTING.

CONFERENCE CONTINUED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. At the Trotting Conference to-day, the election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. H. H. Nicol (re-elected); vice-president, Mr. J. .Rowe (re-elected); executive and dates committee, Messrs. 15. S. Irvin, J. It. McKenzie, C. M. -Oilivier, with the president and yice-president. Air. Nicol stated that the racing and trotting conferences had again clashed, and he understood that there had been somo dissatisfaction by the press on account of this. He asked for suggestions from members re an alterqtion of the dates of the conference. It was the general opinion that the two conferences should not be held on the same day, and eventually it was decided that the matter should be left to the executive to decide. Mr. B. S. Irwin considered that it was a case of making a rule to fit a- particular case. It was really put forward by the Assocatiion, and he considered that if tlie Association wanted the rule it, should have brought forward at the New Zealand Trotting Association. Mr. Irwin moved in the direction of having till races started with tapes or worsted suspended across the various marks at the start of the race. The motion, with the deletion of tho word “tapes,” was carried. Mr. H. Fraser, on behalf of the T’imaru Trotting Club, moved that it be recommended to the Racing Conference that no alteration of dates he allowed without; being agreed to by both bodies; in the event of a disagreement the original dates to stand. Through the clashing of dates between the South Canterbury Jockey Club and the Forbnr.v Park Trotting Club last April the. South Canterbuiy Jockey Club had suffered, but the same might apply to the trotting club, and lie could see no reason why tho dates should have been altered. The Ashburton Trotting Club, represented by Air. W. Bryant, moved to add the following words to Rule 38 concerning unruly and vicious horses ah the start: “Stipendiary stewards shall report to the Association any horse which they consider vicious or unruly at tlu: starting post.” A lengthy discussing took place on, a remit in connection with the drawing for places, by horsemen previous to a. race. The Ne\\ r Zealand Trotting Association wished to have a proviso added that the drawing for places should be conducted by the stipendiary steward or a steward of the club before, the time appointed for weighing out.
