’BUS REGULATIONS.

MINISTER REPLIES TO CRITICS. INSURANCE REASONABLE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Tha Chamber of Commerce, in reply to representations re motor ’buses, had a letter from Hie Hon. K. S. Williams before it, in which he pointed out that under the regulations, as amended, there will be a right of appeal against the extra 2d charge, and also if corporations fixed lower charges on their ’buses than private ones. As to insurance, the Alinister quoted instances in Christchurch and Wellington where sums up to .£21,000 had been paid for tramway accidents, and, therefore, the amount fixed for ’buses was not unreasonable, especially as they were more liable to accident than trams. In other places, enquiries showed that 1 ’buses were not allowed to compete with trams, and yet the number of the former had increased. * The Chamber decided to take no further action.
