OBITUARY.
DIL 11. D. DAVENPORT. (Special to the Ilerald.l CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Dr. H. 1). Davenport, of Coalgnte, whose death is reported to-day, though of a retiring disposition, and one who did not take part in public affairs, was a well known figure and made many friends. His happiest, moments were when lie could spare time for a trip to some part of the Upper Selwyn or a piece of native bush, and, camera in hand, study native birds. At his pretty home no bird was molested. During the 1918 epidemic of influenza he passed through a very anxious time. He worked practically all day and night, and many people in the surrounding districts owed their lives to his treatment. It was in obstetrics, however, that he was best known and his expert treatment iu this science was known far and wide.
