COMMISSION OF UNQCIKY. MR. F. TATE A MEMBER. iSptcsal to the Herald.' AUCKLAND, this day. Mr. Frank Tate, Director of Education in Victoria, who visited Now Zealand twice last year, once to report on post, primary education, and on the other occasion as a member of the University Commission, is a passenger by the Niagara. With the consent of the Victorian Government Mr. Tate has been appointed a member <>l a Commission set up by the Governor ot Fiji, Sir A. Hutson, to inquire into education in the colony. Mr. F. 11. Bake well, formerly chief inspector of schools in the Wellington district, and now retired, is also a member of the Commission, Ijv arrangement with (lie New Zealand Education Department. Now Zealand teachers are given leave for service in Fiji, and every year the schools are inspected by a New Zealand inspector. This work was done last year by Mr. .Bakewell. Arrangements have been made to expedite the inquiry, and members of the Gomniission expect to return by the Niagara on her next trip.
