BOMB ON HOUSE.
MYSTERIOUS EXPLOSION.

The police are investigating a mysterious explosion which occurred in the back yard of premises occupied by John Hallan, motor mechanic, at" Derby street, Colii'ngwood, shortly before 11 o’clock last night. It- is believed that a home-made gunpowder bomb was fired with a length of fuse. Hallan stated that he was sitting in his kitchen when something was thrown on the roof. Hearing a sizzling, he dashed outside and saw a flame. He rushed upstairs, and was carrying ms. two children down whoa an explosion occurred. He and Che children were thrown to the floor and all the windows in the house were shattered. A hole 9in. in diameter was torn in the asphalt paving at- the rear of the house. FiveAveeßs ago Hallan’s house was broken into, and although nothing was stolon. £l5O worth of damage was done to furniture.
